I can slide a business card through there but that's about it.

That's all you need, i was going to fold one and use it doubled while i tighten the woofers down.

I've seen fellas whittle these 210's out for 16 inch frame clearance without going all the way through the 3/4 inch panel. I'm going to spend some time grinding an offset chisel and see if i can do a decent looking job without going all the way through.

With the speakers laying on their side and me sitting in front of the cars, the sound was passing me by on the left and the right. There was really no way to toe them in.


So I had a buddy come over and we stood them up. Now with a little toe in, the imaging was much improved. Here you can see them with the 803 horns on top.


They sounded nice but something just wasn't right. So we went to the back wall and started walking forward. When we got the the doors between the tru

ck and the Packard...man what a time for the keyboard batteries to run out....the sound just blossomed. I had been expecting a sweet spot for the horns, this was a bass sweet spot. I have never experienced a sweet spot for bass before. It seems I needed to be further away from the speakers for the bass to develop. Man on man was that sweet.


Sooo, I had to move some cars around. The general idea was to have the stereo system compliment the garage...I mean that is the reason for having a garage, right? This was much better, only problem is this is going to cost me 2 parking spots which will limit how many cars I can have. However, boy do I have a listening spot now.


Here you can see the area cleaned up a little, ATV, was in the way so it disappeared on CL. Finally, the room really started to develop. With the speakers toed in slightly and sitting back away from them the sound is absolutely wonderful.


At the urging of Digital Pete and sitting around wondering if there was anyway to improve the sound it soon became evident I had to build the wingz. Honestly, I was worried about losing floor space in the garage and I really concerned they were going to be more for show than anything, but here you can see them after installing them.


You can also see I restored a pair of 1003 horns


And finally, after two0 gallons of paint, they were done.


They sound as good as they look.


I even had to add some spot lights to lightly accentuate the fronts of them. Frankly I was gob smacked at how much depth the wingz added to the sound and the 1003 horns just really blend the vocals in.

Instead of having a garage with a stereo acompaning the cars, I now have a killer listening room accentuated with cars.

Would raising them off the floor with Heavy Duty shelf's or stand work ? Can't tell how much space you have till the ceiling but, if you could it would allow you to reclaim some floor space.You would just have to point the HF horns down into listening area..

Those look phenomenal--nice job! Great video too--even the dog is wagging his tail in approval. I can't help but wonder if you might improve your sound by angling the horns down slightly so that they are pointed down more towards ear (chair?) level. Or, maybe you're sitting back far enough that the horns' dispersion angle is adequate the way they are positioned now?

I noticed if I get far back enough from my Altecs they sound great too. But I hate standing way out in the yard just to enjoy them.

Originally, I thought I was going to have to angle the horns way down. I have them on turnbuckles so I can dial them up more, but them seem to integrate well at the current angle. The sweet spot that was surprising was the bass.

I noticed if I get far back enough from my Altecs they sound great too. But I hate standing way out in the yard just to enjoy them.

True enough, this room is actually a little small for the horns. lol.
